On a technical trail, everything comes down to the moment you choose your line: go around the obstacle or ride straight through. It is around this idea that InMotion designed the InMotion X1, its flagship off-road electric unicycle, unveiled on 20 October 2026. It takes over the 235 V high-voltage platform introduced on the P6, the brand’s high-performance road model, but with a different priority: off-road first. A torque of 340 N·m, a linkage suspension offering up to 150 mm of travel and a 2,100 Wh battery make up a machine designed for steep climbs, ruts and jump landings. The manufacturer intends it for experienced riders who practise off-road touring, technical trails and bike parks. In France, the InMotion X1 is available for pre-order, limited to 25 km/h, with delivery estimated for spring 2027.
The InMotion X1 belongs to the segment of high-performance suspension electric unicycles, in its most off-road-oriented version. With a weight of 41 kg, a maximum load of 140 kg including gear and a 206 mm-thick body to grip between the legs, it is a rider’s machine rather than a lightweight means of getting around. InMotion in fact advises looking at other models in its range if the main use is daily commuting.
Its preferred terrain is rides where you ride intensively on a given sector: single tracks, rough forest paths, bike park trails. These practices set precise requirements, around which the design of the InMotion X1 is organised. Torque is needed at very low speed to set off again on a steep slope or get out of a rut. The suspension must absorb a succession of roots as well as a big landing. The adjustments, from damping to pedal height, make it possible to adapt the wheel to the rider’s build and to the terrain. Finally, the modular construction makes it possible to inspect and replace a part after a fall without dismantling the whole wheel. The tubeless 2.75-14 off-road tyre, factory-inflated to 2.5 bar, completes this off-road orientation.

The InMotion X1 is aimed first and foremost at the experienced off-road rider, the one who links together single tracks, bike park trails and jumps. Its 340 N·m of torque makes it possible to set off again on a steep slope without momentum, and its 150 mm of travel absorbs landings. Riders who tried it during the demonstrations describe very responsive power at low speed and lively behaviour on the trail.
It also suits the rider who likes to adjust and maintain their machine themselves. Compression, rebound, ride height and pedal angle are adjustable. A 225 × 75 mm shock absorber, a standard mountain bike size, can replace the original one. The modular construction, finally, makes it possible to change the tyre in about fifteen minutes.
Riders who spend long days riding will find what they need: with the 16 A charger included, the battery goes from 0 to 90% in about 35 minutes.
On the other hand, with its 41 kg and its off-road purpose, the X1 is less suited to a first purchase or to daily commutes that require carrying it up stairs.
The first distinctive feature of the InMotion X1 lies in its linkage suspension, which accepts three configurations. In standard mounting, the original 205 × 60 mm shock absorber offers 150 mm of travel. Mounted in the low position, it lowers the body by 45 mm for 95 mm of travel. Finally, a long 225 × 75 mm shock absorber makes it possible to keep the 150 mm while changing the wheel’s behaviour.
The second lies in its electrical architecture. The 235.2 V platform works with a silicon carbide controller and EVE 50PL cells capable of delivering 120 A at peak. The battery is monitored by a system split into three modules (BMU, BCU, BDU), which continuously checks the voltage of each cell, the temperature and the current.
The third is practical: on the X1, two complete riding profiles can be alternated using a physical button placed on top. Each has its own alarms, its own tiltback, its own pedal sensitivity and its own pedal assist. You can thus switch from a trail setting to a road setting without taking out your phone. InMotion specifies, however, that these functions will depend on their availability at launch.
Answer 1: InMotion claims up to 100 km in optimal conditions: a 90 kg rider with gear, on flat terrain, at 25 °C and at a steady 25 km/h. In mixed use, the claimed range exceeds 70 km. In practice, it varies according to the rider’s weight, elevation gain, temperature and riding intensity.
Answer 2: Yes, in wet weather. The InMotion X1 is certified IP56 for the wheel, IP67 for the battery and IPX6 for the motor. The manufacturer specifies that these ratings cover neither immersion, nor prolonged wading, nor heavy continuous rain, nor cleaning with a pressure washer.
Answer 3: The French version is delivered limited to 25 km/h. The 120 km/h announced by InMotion is a design value, reserved for specific conditions on a closed circuit. It does not correspond to a speed usable in everyday riding.
